November 28 – a date that will live with me forever and 3 hours 54 minutes of constant exercise that makes for one of the biggest things I’ve ever accomplished.
I, some might perhaps say, stupidly announced on air the day after the 2009 LPT that I was going to do the 2010 version and 51 weeks later I completed it.
It’s been an incredible journey and one that has seen me get fitter and fitter and achieve something I would have never thought possible 18 months ago.
And what a day it was! The atmosphere at the finish was simply incredible and will be something that lives long in the memory and is certainly addictive – I want to sample that again!
The swim was a challenge because of the number of bodies all fighting for position but I got into a good rhythm and finished in 31.17 – 59th overall – Come on!
The bike was ok – 1.59 and after a terrible ride the sunday before I was pleased despite losing my computer on the way – grrrrrr!
The run was very tough and with 4km to go my legs cramped so much I was reduced to running, walking and hobbling but I made it over the line to finish in 3 hours 54 mins and 29 seconds, beating my target of four hours!
So what’s next? With any luck the 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championship relay where I shall do the swim leg and look to get my team off to a good start.
After that? I’m not sure yet but I’d like to do the LPT again although it has been mooted to put together a crack relay team and take that….
The 70.3 next year? Who knows…but stranger things have happened…..
Watch this space….
