the training continues for the doris,,,today alarm 8 am,,,headed straight to the gym.normally the hardest point when you are in training is getting out of bed,,,then once youve done that,,the next hardest part is walking through the gym doors.
todays session began with a 4km run followed by 15 minutes on the stepper and a few light weights.this in total 1 hour.
then my trainer arrived for what i thought was going to be an easy workout.how wrong i was!mostly leg work, squats, stretching and some more light weights.at the end of the 2 hour session i could hardly walk, infact he had to help me downstairs!im still sore but is that going to put me off excercise,,,,answer,NO…till next time.

Time to pick it up
Posted By He That Doesn't On Wednesday, September 22nd 2010 In Phuket Health Tip, News, Hotels and informationSo I’ve been a bit slack once again with my training – something I blame entirely on having my friend Inge visit for a week – it wasn’t really her fault but it’s a good excuse…..
Wednesday was another rest day and then on Thursday I took to the road again and ran 11km in the blazing sunshine – it was so hot and I honestly think I have never sweat that much in my life.
It was very tough and to make things worse, I broke my iPod touch too so no more music when I run. Bugger!
Friday and Saturday were spent enjoying myself way too much and there fore Sunday was a complete write off.
My friend left on Sunday so I knew I had no excuse this week (that said, another friend arrives today) so I got in the pool and did a continuous 3.8km swim – that’s 152 laps of a 25m pool – which took me 67 minutes. It’s an awfully long way and all I could think of by the end was there’s no way I could do a 180km bike and a marathon after this…..
The total swim was 4km – further than I’ve ever swum in my life.
Yesterday after work I was back out on the bike and did 30km – couldn’t do more as it was getting dark – and then did a 6km run straight after. Total time: 97 mins.
The best thing was the speed at which I recovered too, which is a sure sign of fitness.
Just over 2 months to go now and time to start putting in the hard yards….

Working weekend = Lazy Trainer
Posted By He That Doesn't On Wednesday, September 15th 2010 In Phuket Health Tip, News, Hotels and informationBeen a busy old week for me this week, one which hasn’t allowed me to train as much as I would have liked – some of my own doing too.
Wednesday as it is every week was a rest day but Thursday was spent on the treadmill posting a 58-minute 11km which I was pleased with before doing some sit ups.
Friday was supposed to be a pool session but I was feeling tired and a friend asked me if I wanted to go for a sunset cocktail and that was more appealing so nothing on Friday.
Saturday I was busy doing this and that so no training then either and I went to a BBQ down on the beach and ate loads.
Sunday was spent at Silk Restaurant at Andara MCing Passion for Fashion which was a fantastic event. I only ate breakfast which wasn’t great and then drank too much.
Monday was spent in the pool – 3km in an hour doing shorter distances so that was good and then Tuesday night was spent going over the Layan Hills – 40km in 1hr 35 mins.
I have a friend in town so this weekend is unlikely to be overly productive either but we’ll see…..

Operation Hayemaker
Posted By He That Doesn't On Tuesday, September 7th 2010 In Phuket Health Tip, News, Hotels and informationI’ve been a big lad for the majority of my life and I have tried to diet etc unsuccessfully over the years.
Upon arriving in Phuket I decided that enough was enough and I was going to get in shape.
So I started doing Muay Thai with some running thrown in which got me off to a good start and I started slimming down even if I was still heavy.
Then I made the decision to do the triathlon from a fitness position where it wouldn’t be possible so I knew I had to get my butt in gear.
This has made a noticable improvement to the way I look which has encouraged me to keep on training as the LPT draws closer and closer aside from the obvious need to keep going so I can finish the course!
But last Wednesday I announced the launch of something that I had been thinking about for a bit: Operation Hayemaker. The goal: try and achieve a body similar to World heavyweight boxing champion David Haye….
I’m a realist and understand that approaching something that resembles his fighting physique would require me to quit work and train which isn’t going to happen, so I’m aiming at something more achieveable such as Haye when he starts training camp – still more toned than most.
So, how am I doing…. Well Wednesday was a bad start as I went to a wine tasting event….
Thursday was better as I was on the bike for 36km, follwed up with 2km on the rowing machine and 80 sit ups.
Friday was spent back in the pool, completing 110 laps in under an hour doing various distances at speed with small rest periods.
Saturday was meant to be spent tackling the hills at Layan but other commitments put paid to that so I hit the treadmill setting a new 6km PB before doing 2km on the rower and more sit ups.
Sunday was a rest day and Monday saw me back in the pool, posting a new PB for the 1.8km swim: 30.17 – happy days…..
It remains to be seen how Operation Hayemaker pans out, but I shall keep you updated all the way…..
Let’s get ready to rumble….
